The unveiling...

Let's review.  First there was mystery plant.

It turned into strange looking flower rather quickly.

Which then exploded into really strange flower.

Or, as I see it, very large and colorful dandelion.

One of the strangest plants I have ever seen.  Anyone have a clue as to what it is??

Open door policy

I always have high hopes of blogging through summer and keeping everyone informed about the craziness that happens at our house with nice weekly updates.  I should know better. By the end of the first week things are so nuts that just spending five minutes Jon is an optimistic goal. Our days (and house) are very full.  Our door is open most of the time. Literally wide open because apparently no one knows how to shut it.

My kids usually get sick at some point during the summer which just makes things that much more insane.  Why is it that puking almost always happens in the middle of the night? Does that happen to anyone else or is it just us??

After about three weeks of the madness, I find myself wanting it to be over.  But I love it.  I love watching young adults that I have know since they were kids struggle with things that in the end shape and mold their characters. It's very cool.  God always seems to send them the exact thing they need to help make them into the people he wants them to be whether that is a camper who challenges their authority or a fellow staff member who pushes all of their buttons.

I also love watching the campers.  Some of them come with very large attitudes.  Some of them are scared stiff.  Some are just so happy to be back that they act like we are long lost family members who they finally get to hug.  By the second day, the shy scared ones are completely relaxed and enjoying themselves.  The ones with attitude are letting down their walls and beginning to show the real person inside. And by the end of the week none of them want to go home.

I'm so glad to be a part of all the mayhem and madness.  Today that included swimming in a freezing mountain river...brrrr.  Tomorrow who knows!

Progress

Remember mystery plant?  It has metamorphisized into a very strange looking "flower?" Is that the right word for it? You decide.

It happens every day.

Me- Logan, go get your shoes on so we can leave.

Logan- But mom, I don't have any.

Me- Of course you have shoes.  Let's go take a look.

Ummm....
